Foxes pose no threat to a healthy adult cat. A fox is not much bigger than a cat and at five to seven kilograms not much heavier either. Furthermore, cats have sharp teeth and claws to defend themselves with.
Where cat and fox say good night According to observations made during research in the city of Zurich, cats and foxes often meet during the night but such incidents usually remain peaceful. The animals hardly take any notice of one another. Occasionally, a high-spirited fox will try to make a cat play with it or a cat might chase away a fox by arching its back, spitting and hissing. However, there is no evidence of a cat being killed by a fox. In a few isolated cases, analysis of the stomach contents of dead foxes from the city of Zurich showed up some cat remains. But since foxes are omnivores and do not mind eating carrion, a cat runover on the road could be devoured by a fox. Young, sick or weak old cats are less able to defend themselves and are occasi-onally caught by a fox.
